Three Ukrainian women artists on why beauty matters in inhumane times.
Kateryna Bielikova, Mykolaiv (currently based in Drohobych)
Kateryna’s background unites art and zoology. She specialized in horse breeding at the Mykolaiv State Agrarian University and worked for many years at the Mykolaiv Zoo. A self-taught artist, she developed her skills through independent study of anatomy and technique. Kateryna is a Member of the Association of Animal Artists (UK) and a Juried Affiliate Artist of the Circle Foundation for the Arts (France). Her works have been exhibited in Ukraine and internationally – in the USA, UK, Germany, France, and South Korea. She is the recipient of numerous international honors, including the 2025 International Award of the British Association of Animal Artists.
Tetyana is a professionally trained artist, having graduated from the Taras Shevchenko State Art High School and the National Academy of Fine Arts and Architecture in Kyiv. Since 2003, she has participated in various exhibitions, with a focus on equestrian and animal themes. Tetyana's main profession is a children's book illustrator. She is the author of over 300 illustrations created since the start of the full-scale invasion, dedicated to reflecting the war and its impact. Read more
Yulia Lychagina, Odesa
Yulia graduated from Grekov Odesa Art School. Her exhibitions have been held in her hometown Odesa and in Kyiv. Her works are held in private collections in various countries around the world. Read more
